Mr. Charles P. Morris has served as a dedicated board member for Guilford Township since 1979. Mr. Morris was recently awarded The Charles Bogden Memorial Board Member of the Year for the State of Indiana in 2022.
Hummel Park was formed in 1984, providing over 200 acres of park land for the community. Mr. Morris helped to establish the park in a former Trustee’s name, Jim Hummel, after Mr. Hummel passed away. The park has become one of the best parks in Hendricks County with the creation of facilities, amenities, and services during Mr. Morris’ term.
He assisted the two Trustee’s that have served during his term to build a community center, a performing art pavilion, gazebos, shelter houses, a wedding / event outdoor pavilion, 4 playgrounds, accessible paved trails, restrooms, splash pad, sledding hill, basketball courts, sand volleyball court, and ball fields.
As Plainfield and Guilford Township grew, fire services needed to be reorganized to meet the needs of the members of the community. Mr. Morris worked with his board and the Trustee at that time to establish the Plainfield Fire Territory. The 33,797 residents of Guilford Township are served with professionalism and excellence due to the planning and strategy of Guilford Township in 2010.
Mr. Morris also is a great supporter of township assistance and partnering with other service providers in our community, including partnerships with Hendricks County Meals on Wheels, Sheltering Wings Center for Domestic Violence Victims, and Link transportation through Hendricks County Senior Center.
Mr. Morris has assisted in completing this while having a full and wonderful family life. He has been married to Beth for the past 51 years. They have 3 children who are married and have given them 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Mr. Morris rarely has missed a board meeting during his tenure while still attending sporting and school events for his family. He is a member of Plainfield Christian Church. He loves fishing, vacationing, and going to his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Mr. Morris has been a leader and innovator for Guilford Township for the past 44 years. We thank him for his hard work and dedication.
